Our experienced team of health care professionals offer a wide variety of appointment services for our patients at Sunnybank Hills Medical Centre. Our aim to cater for all of our patients needs in a friendly & professional environment.
Home visits are available to current patients of the practice who live in the local area. Should you require a home visit, please ring and discuss the situation with our receptionists who will then seek instruction from the doctor and make the appropriate arrangements. Information regarding costs of this visit will be given at this time.
After Hours Medical Care
In the case of after hours appointments our practice refers patients to the Brisbane After Hours Doctors (ph. 1300 466 337). This organisation is a fully accredited deputizing service providing after hours medical care for patients in their own homes. Detailed information is recorded in our out of hours telephone message.
Medical Advice via Telephone Calls
The practice is accessible by telephone during all hours. If you phone the centre after operating hours, you will be redirected to after hours medical care options. Nursing and medical advice is available during clinic hours. If the doctor is unavailable, the nurse will take details over the phone and the doctor/nursing sister will return your call as soon as possible.
Health promotion is an important focus of the care offered at Sunnybank Hills Medical Centre. To assist with this, we have an extensive reminder system in place for some routine health checks eg. Asthma checkups and Diabetes checkups. If you do not wish to receive routine reminders please inform the practice manager.
The practice provides continuous care in many aspects of medicine. However, there are instances when a referral to a Consultant/Specialist doctor is required. Your doctor will discuss this with you. Referrals can not be issued without a consultation.
Prescriptions are not normally available without seeing your doctor. Please ensure that you have sufficient medication before leaving the surgery. If you are unable to see the doctor and require a prescription, the doctor will consider the request and if willing to give you a prescription, in this instance 24 hours notice is usually required and the doctor may charge a $5.00 fee
If English is not your first language we can arrange an interpreter to be present for you during appointments with your doctor. This is a free service and is arranged through the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs, through the Translating and Interpreting Service. We will need to book this service in advance so please let our friendly reception staff know that you require this as soon as possible and it can be arranged for you.
