Patients are able to phone Sunnybank Hills Medical Centre on Ph. 07 3273 5022, to arrange an appointment with our friendly reception staff. When making an appointment our receptionists will make every effort to secure your preferred time and doctor. If your doctor is not available, our receptionists will let you know which other doctors from the Practice are available to be seen. Our highly trained & friendly receptionists strive to find an appointment that suits you.
Appointments can also be made easily online at any time of day using HotDoc. The HotDoc application allows you to take your time to find the best appointment with your family doctor. For more information please see the video below.
Standard appointments last for 10 minutes. Longer consultations with your doctor are also available upon request. Please let our receptionists know when you book your appointment that you require extra time or if you are unsure how long you will need with your doctor. We request that a longer appointment be made for more complex medical problems, Insurance and Employment Medical issues, medical procedures and injections. Some of our Doctors also require longer appointments for new patients. A separate appointment must be made for each family member that needs to be seen. Our friendly receptionists will be able to answer any questions relating to your consultations.
When you arrive at the practice:
Sunnybank Hills Medical Centre is proud to have a modern, purpose built medical centre. We have 34 dedicated patient car parks to allow for your arrival to be as relaxed as possible.
On arrival you will be welcomed by our friendly receptionists. If you think you or your child may have an infectious disease, or if you are too ill or distressed to sit in the waiting room, please advise the receptionist and they will organise alternate waiting arrangements for you.
If English is not your first language we can arrange an interpreter to be present during your appointments with your doctor. This is a free service and is arranged through the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs, through the Translating and Interpreting Service. We will need to book this service in advance so please let our friendly reception staff know that you require this as soon as possible and it can be arranged for you.

At our practice, patients without an appointment who require immediate medical attention for an urgent problem are seen immediately by the nursing staff, who will assess the situation. If you require immediate medical attention please telephone the practice and ask to speak to the nurse. The nurse will assess the situation and make the necessary arrangement for you.
What happens when there is an appointment delay?
Reception staff will attempt to contact you to advise you if there is a significant delay in seeing your doctor or if your doctor is unavailable to be seen during your scheduled time.
Our practice works hard to try to avoid appointment delays. However, as in every medical centre delays can occur and we sincerely apologise when this happens. To diminish waiting time we suggest that you phone ahead of your appointment time to check whether your GP is running on time. You can also ask the reception desk whether your doctor is running on time when you arrive at the practice.
