Favourite thing about being a GP

I enjoy being able to get to know my patients over a long period of time as well as being involved in all different aspects of their health. I also love knowing a little a bit about everything when it comes to medicine as opposed to being an expert in one area, and enjoy continually learning all the time.

Interesting Fact

I have wanted to be a doctor for as long as a I can remember.  Apparently, it started when I wanted a second lolly after I received my 4 year old immunisations and my GP didn’t give me one.  I declared that I would become a doctor so I can give kids 2 lollies, although I have grown up to understand why I was only given 1 lolly.

Philosophy of Practice

I believe it is so important to build good rapport with my patients and also to be able to communicate well with them. There really is great value to a patient to have a doctor they can trust, and as such, I feel I have the responsibility of practicing good medicine that is patient-centred, evidence based, and prioritises prevention and early intervention.
